History and Origin
Bonita is a feminine given name as well as a word meaning "pretty, cute" in Spanish and Portuguese.
Bonita may refer to:
English: apparently coined in America in the 1940s, probably from the feminine form of Spanish bonito pretty, although this is not used as a given name in Spanish-speaking countries. Bonita looks like the feminine form of a medieval Latin male name, Bonītus (from bonus good), which was borne by an Italian saint of the 6th century and a Provençal saint of the 7th. However, the feminine form is not found in medieval records, and this is an unlikely source of the name.
