Harald is a proper name used as a given name.
Scandinavian form of Harold. It has been popular in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark uninterruptedly from the time of the very earliest records, and was borne by several medieval kings of Norway and Denmark. Harald Fairhair (?850–933) was the first proper king of Norway, and presided over a remarkable period of Viking civilization. During his reign the first substantial wave of Scandinavian settlers migrated to Iceland.
