Servane is a feminine given name that seems to come from the Latin of servitium church, "the service of God". This name, which also evoked the noun servus, the slave (serf, in medieval French), was never very widespread. It was sometimes found in Brittany, until the eighteenth century, because of the notoriety of Saint Serf or Saint Servan, bishop-abbot of Culross, in Scotland in the United Kingdom (seventh century), known in Scotland as the Breton saint Serf.

And it had some vogue again in Brittany in the 1980s and it was popular in the Malvinas region and beyond. He now seems to have almost disappeared from the civil registry. Servane was also appreciated outside Brittany in some aristocratic families due to its rarity. He is celebrated there on July 1st, like Servan. Forever S.
