Ede is a common name among the Igbo people in Nigerian,it is most common among Enugu, Ebonyi, and Benue state Nigeria. In Igbo land where I come from Ede literally means coco-yam, and a male child born in the year of bountiful harvest is named "Ede" because such is attributed to wealth. Also Ede in some part of Igbo land means a very beautiful bird, consequently, any male child that exhibits such qualities is named Ede.
