I had an aunt (b: 1904) by the name Eldina, and in as much as there were no ancestors by this name, we asked her where our grandparents came up with the name. The response was that it was the name of a heroine in a 1904 (American) novel, the title and author of which were lost to time. About 15 years ago I met an elderly lady with the same name, and she said she had no idea where her parents came up with the name, but surprisingly, she too was born in 1904.
