Jadwiga (Polish pronunciation: [jadˈviɡa]; diminutive Jadzia [ˈjadʑa]) is a Polish feminine given name. It originated from the old German Hedwig (compounded from hadu, "battle", and wig, "fight").

Polish form of Hedwig. St Jadwiga (c.1174–1243) was born in Bavaria of Moravian descent, the daughter of the Duke of Croatia and Dalmatia. St Elizabeth of Hungary was her niece. When she was twelve she was married to the Duke of Silesia, head of the Polish royal family. She did much to foster Christianity in Poland. The Blessed Jadwiga (1371–99) was a later queen of Poland who converted many Lithuanians to Christianity, starting with her husband, Władysław Jagiełło, Grand Duke of Lithuania.
