The Kailāsh is a mountain in the Gangdisê chain (part of the Himalayas), in Tibet. There originate some of the longest rivers in Asia such as the Indus (which drains into the Arabian Sea), the Sutlej (known as Shātadru or Sutudrī.) Or the Brahmaputra (which drains into the Bay of Bengal). The mountain is located near Lake Mana Sarovar ('Lake of the Mind') and Lake Rakshas Tal. It is the only major mountain in the entire world that has no known attempt at climbing, in deference to Buddhist and Hindu religious beliefs.
