Mahlet is a popular name for females mainly used in Ethiopia and Eritrea. It is from the language called Geez which solely used in religious practices in the Ethiopian Orthodox church. The meaning of the name Mahlet could be merely interpreted as "chanting prayer made to praise God" therefore, there are millions of females called Mahlet. Most of Ethiopian names have meanings unlike some western names which has no meaning as I observed in Finland where I am currently studying. If you have similar questions concerning Ethiopian names,I will try to help with their meanings.BTW,I know it is not part of the question but because I love my name,I want to share it's meaning,Tsegaye could be interpreted as "divine gift" or "my blessing from God"and many people can't pronounce my name correctly, except of course my compatriots.
