The name RHODEN is a very very old German name generally translated as "One who lives near the clearing". Aaron (?) Rhoden was King Of The Holy Roman Empire when ousted in 1435, thereafter moving his family to Switzerland forming the states Of Inner Rhoden and Ausser (meaning outer area) Rhoden that exist today. Ther are some there referred to as "Prince Rhoden" today. This is verifyable with some Encyclopedias. There has been a dire misconception that the name came from and is from England caused by the fact that so many Rhodens coming to America departed on ships from ports in England when coming to America.
