My uncle's name was Ruxton, my brother's name was Ruxton and my nephew's name is Ruxton, so I guess you could call it a family name. The story I heard growing up was that my grandmother saw the name on a street sign (in Baltimore, Maryland) and liked it so bestowed it upon my uncle. The rest is history, as they say. This unusual name has held up for three generations in our family and maybe even a fourth, you just never know! I like to think that my grandmother one of those mothers that didn't care what other people thought and liked the idea of giving their child an uncommon (but not ridiculous) name.
