Valme is a Sevillian feminine given name whose origin is found in a Marian invocation, that of the Virgin of Valme. It has its sainthood on the third Sunday of October.

Legend has it that when King Ferdinand III was preparing to conquer Seville he carried with him an image of the Virgin Mary, to whom he asked for help with the following prayer: "Give me, Lady, that if you deign to do so, in this place I will carve a chapel for you, in which at your feet I will deposit as an offering, the banner that the enemies of Spain and our Santa Fe conquer!", and from the expression "VĂ¡leme" came the name of the invocation, Valme.

According to the 2011 INE census, around 300 women in Spain bear this name, 85% of whom live in the province of Seville.
