Natasha (Russian: Ната́ша) is a name of Russian origin. Originally it was a diminutive form of Natalia, which in turn derives from the Latin Dies Natalies, meaning "Natal Day" or "Birthday" in reference to the traditional birth of Jesus. It was traditionally given to girls born around Christmas.

Russian: pet form of Natalya, now widely adopted as an independent name in the English-speaking world and elsewhere. Like Noëlle (see Noël), it is sometimes given to girls born on or about Christmas Day.
